QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

I have an Advanced Diploma in Counselling achieved in 2002 on an accredited course at Wigan College, Greater Manchester.

I am a member of the BACP (British Association Counsellors Psychotherapists)

I attend supervision monthly with an independent supervisor and I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) I am bound by its practice and code of ethics.

I carry private Public Liability Insurance for my counselling practice. I have a current enhanced CRB check and a clean drivers licence.

I currently work for Ling Trust as a Family Support Coordinator and Person Centred Consultant and Counsellor.

My work is in a mentoring capacity with Support Workers/ Personal Assistants for people with Learning Disabilities under the CDS scheme mainly in Wrexham, North Wales.

Before joining Ling Trust I worked 9 years for the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust as a Band 6 Specialist Counsellor and although I practiced all areas of counselling I specialised in all Pregnancy related issues.

My role with the NHS was varied. It involved seeing young people with sexual/psychosexual, pregnancy, family planning related issues and couples and families with problems ranging from infertility or loss and bereavement to coming to terms with a family members illness or death due to cancer or a recent disability.

I managed my own practice and referrals came to me from all departments of the NHS Trust and Agencies, GP’s, Health Visitors, Social Workers, Access Team and self referral.

I have also worked in many different settings, including a family welfare centre where referrals came from families, in the community.  I was responsible for meeting the needs of families and children through counselling, advocacy and community development.

I have experience of working in schools with children and young adults aged between 11-18 with problems ranging from, bullying, truancy, alcohol and drug related problems and domestic violence.

I have also trained to work with people suffering from crime abuse when working voluntary with Victim Support.
