This service is not for crisis counselling or for people with severe mental illness.
The effectiveness of counselling is difficult to measure therefore no guarantee is made or implied for the outcome of the counselling provided.
All counselling email correspondence will remain confidential and will only be disclosed within counselling supervision. The only exception to this would be if the counsellor becomes aware of an intention to self-harm or harm others. Where possible this will be addressed in the counselling email correspondence. Ultimately the counsellor reserves the right to break confidentiality in this situation.
The service cannot be held responsible for any loss of business or loss of earnings, either directly or indirectly as a result of using this service.
The service user is responsible for keeping all counselling email correspondence confidential on there own computers. I recommend that the service user, password protects, all email counselling correspondence and is aware of the vulnerabilities of using public access computers.
This service cannot be held responsible for loss of counselling email correspondence due to fraudulent acts by third parties to intercept information on the servers or the Internet, in which this service is operated.
Yvonne Shaw does not keep counselling correspondence on her server for security reasons. Only minimal data of first name and email address is kept on our server that refers to the service user. Counselling by email makes every effort to maintain the security and integrity of its website. However it is not possible for any system to be totally secure therefore the service user accepts these risks when using this service.
The service user agrees to accept that no advice will be given on medical or commercial issues that are outside the expertise of the counselling provided.
The service user can terminate the counselling at any time. Any outstanding email counselling time, which has been paid for in advance will then be refunded on a pro-rata basis.
Counselling provided by this service is for personal use only and is not used for research, or any other commercial reasons.
The service user agrees to be accurate and informative when corresponding with the counsellor.
Counselling by email is not intended as a substitute for face-to-face counselling and it is not recommended for people to use this service if they are already engaged in counselling.
Yvonne Shaw adheres to the BACP code of ethics and is subject to the laws of the United Kingdom.
